We are so proud that Houston is the new home of a Barbara Jordan memorial! Especially because it is in the place where she grew up! Barbara’s spirit resonates through Houston Poet Laureate Aris Kian Brown’s words as she recites “How to Build a Bridge” during last week’s unveiling of The Meditative Space. The Meditative Space was created by Charisse Pearlina Weston and Jamal Cyrus. The artwork, now part of Houston’s Civic Art Collection, is dedicated to the memory of the legendary Barbara Jordan. It is located at the African American Library at the Gregory School.
