Houston Arts Alliance seeks to advance
the nonprofit arts industry in Greater Houston, thus contributing to
enhance the region’s quality of life, economic competitiveness
and attractiveness as a tourist destination. Our mission is to nurture,
fund and promote participation in the arts in Houston and Harris County.
We provide financial support, technical assistance and specialized services
to artists, arts and civic organizations, and public institutions to
ensure that citizens and visitors to our community have access to broad
and diverse cultural programs–from avant-garde theatre to traditional
music to fine arts exhibitions. We offer a program of civic art and
design dedicated to improving the region’s physical environment
through the inclusion of art in infrastructure projects, working through
partnerships with the City of Houston and other public and private sector
entities.
Houston Arts Alliance is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
The organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors elected
through an annual nominating process, with two members appointed by
the Mayor of the City of Houston and the Harris County Judge. The professional
staff brings expertise in the arts, nonprofit management and community
development, ensuring the successful delivery of the programs and services
for which the organization has been recognized nationally.
Partners and Supporters
Houston Arts Alliance works in public/private partnership with the
City of Houston, managing the investment of the Hotel Occupancy Tax
to foster the growth and development of the nonprofit arts sector in
the City. The City of Houston is the leading public supporter of the
arts in the State of Texas.
Our organization also receives public support from the Texas Commission
on the Arts, Harris County and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Location and Contact Information
Houston Arts Alliance’s offices
are located at the Houston Center for the Arts on Allen Parkway, one
block west of the intersection of Allen Parkway and Waugh Drive. Limited
on-street meter parking is available on Rosine and D’Amico Streets
to the east and south of the building. The Houston Center for the Arts
operates a parking lot on D’Amico Street ($2 payable at a coin box).
